What is Lagree?
A Journey from LA to Birmingham
Lagree Fitness began in the early 2000s in Los Angeles, invented by Sebastien Lagree, a former bodybuilder and aspiring actor who saw the need for a workout that delivered high-intensity results, with low impact on the body.
Originally called Pilates Plus in 1998, Lagree tinkered with his Pilates reformer to keep bodybuilders sculpted without injury, blending strength and elegance into a new fitness philosophy. Today, Lagree Fitness is a global footprint, it’s brought to 600+ studios worldwide, solidifying its position as a leader in boutique workouts.
And now, Alora Studio proudly plans to brings the first brand-powered Lagree hub to the West Midlands, right here in Birmingham. Continuing the journey of innovation and community.
The Method ‣ Why Lagree Works
Lagree is a fusion of Pilates finesse, bodybuilding intensity, and cardio endurance, wrapped into one transformative session. Here’s what makes it special:
-
Low-Impact, High-Intensity: The Megaformer’s spring-based resistance is kinder on joints yet relentless in performance, providing a challenging workout without unnecessary strain.
-
Time Under Tension: Each move is deliberate, slow, and controlled, and muscles stay activated with minimal rest, making even a 50-minute session feel like an all-out endurance test.
-
Full-Body Engagement: The method taps into hundreds of muscles at once, especially slow-twitch fibers that contract for long, lean sculpting. Nothing compares to that trembling burn.
-
Efficiency: Expect constant effort, even during transitions. With springs that are quick to swap and numbered platforms to guide alignment, there’s no downtime, just enduring intensity.
The Megaformer ‣ The Machine That Powers It All
The Megaformer isn’t just a piece of equipment, it’s the beating heart of Lagree. Seemingly similar to a Pilates Reformer, it’s engineered with enhanced functionality to support Lagree’s uncompromising style:
-
Vast and heavy, it provides a stable, dynamic platform for powerful full‑body movements.
-
Features numbered panels, handles, anchors, and rails, enabling precise positioning and fluid transitions, no rest just flow.
-
Every new iteration refines resistance placement, grip options, and movement adaptability for a more refined training experience
